SPIE CityNetworks creates its digital hub with Daxium-Air.
SPIE CityNetworks, the French subsidiary of the SPIE Group, a leading independent European provider of multi-technical services in the fields of energy and communications, has embarked on a two-year digital transofrmation journey for all of its activities. Leveraging its partnership with Daxium, the subsidiary has established a digital hub and automated all of its business processes through modules accessible directly on smartphones.
Quality and responsiveness improved through integrated digital solutions on smartphones.
SPIE CityNetworks, dedicated to energy and digital networks, urban services, transportation, and mobility, initiated a digital transformation project for all of its business sectors in 2019 in collaboration with its partner Daxium (a no-code platform). The goal was to simplify, automate, and harmonize the date entry and reporting times for employees. The results were rapid and eliminated administrative “irritants,” optimized interventions with precise operating procedures, improved tracking quality, and reduced information retrieval and sharing time with customers.
“We implemented online forms to allow site managers to generate real-time activity reports or summaries via their smartphones, in order to reduce administrative tasks,” explains Daniel Beaubouchez, Head of Digitalization and Innovation at SPIE CityNetworks.
“We continue to roll out this digital transformation across all of our activities – installing 4/5G pylons, deploying optical fiber, managing i-techniques in energy and communications, electric charging stations, video surveillance, etc. – for even more convenience in our operations and operational excellence.”
Capitalizing on best practices and expertise.
The project materialized with the establishment of a digital hub: a store of business applications available to employees on their smartphones, ensuring optimal information feedback on ongoing projects. For example, the “public lighting” application provides access to several modules, such as the installation of technical equipment – lampposts, cabinets – or maintenance intervention forms (photos, measurements, etc.).
Report formats are customized according to customer needs. Engineer at SPIE CityNetworks, attests to this: “I used to spend a considerable amount of time cross-referencing Excel spreadsheets and standardizing report formats before presenting them to customers. Now, these reports are generated automatically, allowing me to focus on analysis and improvement plans. It has also allowed me to regain valuable time, both for preparing my projects and personally.”
The impact is also significant in terms of safety. The fluidity of the digital hub, for example, increases the number of preventive observation visits and “safety minutes.” The analysis modules provide QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) teams with real-time indicators and action plans, eliminating hours spent on Excel.
Thanks to these digitized processes, the quality of monitoring and reports has significantly improved, benefiting our customers. Currently, 90% of visit and intervention reports are digitalized.

A hub of information, a decision tool, and machine learning for the future.
To date, 2,700 employees are equipped with a Daxium license, and around a hundred business modules have been configured in the Store.
The improvement in the quality of stored information allows for the consideration of data minding and deep learning modules today. In the long term, machine learning and AI (Artificial Intelligence) on structured and harmonized data from the digital hub hold promising prospects, enabling more predictive capabilities, especially in the fields of maintenance and safety.
